4 Ways to Penetrate Facebook's News Feeds

Family and friends first, then informative and entertaining posts - that is how feeds are distributed to your fans and friends on Facebook. 


By now, we're sure you have heard about Facebook's latest algorithm change announced on June 30th. 

And just when you thought you were getting the hang of things!

We have news for you! You're going to have to change what you're doing to get your message to your fans and friends. What it boils down to is facebook will show posts from your family and friends first! Next they will rate posts by information and entertainment value. Ultimately, it will be more difficult to get your 'brand' message out to your friends and fans. 

Does it mean you give up? NO WAY! 

It means, you work a little harder for awhile and you change your strategy!

First off - for all of you that hide behind your facebook business page - STOP HIDING! Switch back to using facebook as you, not as your page! With this change to the algorithm, it is imperative to share your page posts to your personal network. We've always been an advocate of this as most SMBs have more friends on facebook than fans following their business. Often viewers on facebook are more likely to like, comment or share a post that has been posted by you, over the identical post from your page. Due take the time to add a message to the original post when sharing from your page. This message should be done in a way to relate the content of your post to the majority of your friends on facebook. In other words, don't just share - take the time to add more interesting content to the post. 

For those of you who created what should be a personal page on facebook in your business name -- you might have it a little easier. Facebook is smarter than that now - so almost impossible to do for new users. You are missing the boat however - as you do not receive the wealth of data accumulated by having a business page (demographics, likes, shares, comments, etc.) Also, your content is not searchable or viewable by those who do not have a facebook account (just in case you didn't know).
