Every Monday I share a mantra. Just something I’m feeling, something I need, or something I think others might need too. It started as a personal post, but now if I don’t share it, I get messages asking where it is. This week’s mantra? “Your life doesn’t get better by chance, it gets better by change.” And the more I sit with it, the more it feels like the perfect reminder for anyone running a business.
Your Life Doesn’t Get Better by Chance
It gets better by change. You already knew that.
Change is the Only Constant
This morning I was scrolling through LinkedIn and landed on a post by Robert Herjavec.
He was sharing one of his usual life lessons from business, and like most of his posts, it hit the right nerve.
The message was simple:
In business, things go sideways. Often. You either adapt or your business doesn’t make it. Actually Herjavec's words were 'Shit happens. Adapt or die'...
It’s not revolutionary. It’s not a secret formula.
It’s something every business owner already knows deep down.
And still, we forget it the second things stop going to plan.
Try, Try Again (And Then Again)
Your mom said it. So did mine.
“If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.”
It sounds like a line from a storybook, but it’s one of the truest things about entrepreneurship.
You try a thing.
It doesn't work.
You tweak it.
Try again.
Still doesn’t land? Change again.
Most people think success is about getting it right the first time.
Entrepreneurs know better. It’s about getting it wrong and doing it anyway—over and over—until something clicks.
It’s not stubbornness.
It’s persistence with purpose.
Here’s Your Shift Today:
Maybe the problem isn’t what went wrong. Maybe it’s thinking it should have worked the first time.
We grow through the stuff that breaks.
We get sharper when things fall flat.
And we build businesses, not by chance, but by learning from every twist, misstep, and course correction.
So yes, this week’s mantra is personal.
But it’s also professional.
Your life doesn’t get better by chance. It gets better by change.
Change something.
Then try again.
Until tomorrow.
Be Bold. Do Different. See Results.
