What We Have To Say

Debi Katsmar

Debi KatsmarDebi Katsmar

Founder, CEO & Marketing Strategist

Prowl Communications

Debi Katsmar is the founder, CEO, and marketing strategist behind Prowl Communications, a Niagara-based marketing agency and consulting firm helping Canadian B2B businesses make clearer marketing, sales, website, CRM, and operational decisions before spending more money on tactics that may or may not solve the real problem.

With more than 40 years in the marketing industry and over 35 years leading her own agency, Debi brings a depth of experience that is difficult to find in a business world that keeps changing faster than most companies can keep up with. She started in marketing before websites, social media, email automation, CRM systems, AI tools, and online advertising became part of the everyday conversation, which gives her a strong understanding of both traditional and modern marketing, and more importantly, how they need to work together.

Debi founded her first business in 1989, rebranding to Prowl Communications in 2015. She has worked with thousands of businesses across a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, distribution, professional services, appraisal, insurance, medical, education, consulting, home staging, trades, storage, food service, and other service-based and B2B companies. Her work is especially focused on helping owner-led and small to mid-sized businesses figure out what they actually need before jumping into a website rebuild, CRM setup, marketing campaign, lead generation push, sales process change, or operational improvement.

Her approach is practical, strategic, and direct. Debi believes businesses often do not have a marketing problem on the surface; they have a clarity problem, a positioning problem, a sales process problem, a follow-up problem, a systems problem, an operational problem, or a combination of all of the above. That is why Prowl Communications focuses on understanding the business first, then building the right marketing, website, CRM, sales, and operational support around it.

Through Prowl Communications, Debi helps clients with marketing strategy, website strategy, B2B lead generation, CRM consulting, Zoho CRM and Zoho One implementation, email marketing, automation, sales and marketing alignment, strategic business clarity, and fractional leadership support. This includes Fractional CMO work for businesses that need senior marketing direction without hiring a full-time marketing executive, as well as Fractional Director of Operations support for organizations that need stronger structure, systems, processes, reporting, and accountability.

Debi is a Zoho Authorized Partner and Zoho CRM Administrator, as well as a Certified Constant Contact Solution Provider since 2006. Prowl Communications also works with a team of specialists in web design, graphic design, copywriting, photography, video, CRM solutions, business development, and consulting.

One of Debi’s core strengths is seeing the gap between what a business thinks it needs and what it actually needs. A company may come to Prowl asking for a new website, but the real issue may be unclear messaging, poor lead quality, outdated services, no defined sales process, weak follow-up, missing operational structure, or a CRM that does not support the way the business actually runs. Rather than simply selling the service requested, Debi works to uncover the bigger picture so clients can make better decisions, reduce wasted spending, and move forward with more confidence.

This thinking led to the development of Prowl’s Strategic Business Clarity work utilizing the Foundational 6 Architecture™, a strategic framework that looks at the key areas businesses need to strengthen before expecting marketing to perform properly. These areas include market insights, strategic planning, brand positioning, systems and technology, sales optimization, operational efficiency, and performance analytics. Debi is also developing a broader consulting system that will bring together her strategic, marketing, sales, CRM, and operational work into a more structured process for helping businesses clarify direction, identify gaps, prioritize action, and build stronger internal systems. The name of that system is still in development, but the purpose is clear: to help businesses stop guessing and start making decisions in the right order.

Debi is also known for her straightforward, conversational writing style. Her articles are written for real business owners and decision-makers who are often juggling too many priorities, trying to make sense of too many tools, and wondering why more activity is not always creating better results. Her goal is to help readers think more clearly about marketing, websites, CRM systems, sales processes, lead generation, operations, and business growth before making decisions that cost time, money, and energy.

Beyond her work with Prowl Communications, Debi has been actively involved in the Niagara business community for many years. She is connected through business organizations, networking groups, community initiatives, and leadership roles, and she regularly works with business owners who need both strategic direction and practical implementation support. Her long-standing involvement gives her a grounded understanding of the challenges facing Canadian small and mid-sized businesses and not-for-profits, especially those that need growth but do not always have the internal team, time, or systems to make it happen.

At the heart of Debi’s work is a simple belief: businesses should not have to guess their way through marketing, sales, systems, or operations. Whether the need is a website, CRM system, lead generation plan, email marketing program, sales process, operational structure, fractional leadership, or broader business clarity, the first step is understanding what is really going on.

Prowl Communications helps businesses communicate with clarity, make better decisions, and build marketing, sales, CRM, and operational systems that support where the business is actually trying to go.

Why B2B Website Traffic Is Dropping, and What AI Search Has to Do With It

Why B2B Website Traffic Is Dropping, and What AI Search Has to Do With It

B2B website traffic is dropping for many businesses, but the issue is not always SEO alone. AI search, longer buyer questions, unclear website content, poor service positioning, and weak follow-up systems can all affect whether the right prospects find you, understand you, and take the next step. Before spending more on ads, content, or a website rebuild, Canadian B2B companies need to look at whether their website is clearly answering what buyers actually need to know.
